An honest discussion about the costs of home remodeling…
The cost for a new kitchen or bathroom remodel can vary greatly depending on overall size, materials requested and the amount of electrical, plumbing and general construction work needed to realize your final design. Of course everyone wants a good deal but before you sign a contract with a company make sure your quote includes at a minimum all of the following listed in these bullets below. Many companies do not include all of these items to make their quotes appear low make sure your comparing a similar list of deliverables as well as quality of materials. This is not an exhaustive list but these are large cost items.
Our kitchen remodels begin about $25,000 for this cost you could expect the following.
-
A good quality all-wood cabinet in a shaker style about 25 linear feet,
-
Granite or quartz counter tops 50-55 sq feet level 2.
-
All new electrical outlets and switches as needed by code.
-
New sink, faucet and garbage disposal.
-
Backsplash approximately 25 feet at $15 a sq. foot
-
Also included would be re-texturing walls and ceiling if needed then painting them.
The price can go up if you are replacing appliances, flooring, adding recessed or undercounter lighting as well as adding special feature to cabinets. Another area that can add cost is if you are changing where appliances or plumbing are located. Most kitchens we do fall between $25,000 and $45,000 with just a few outliers costing more or less than this range. Our price always includes all labor and materials as spelled out in the contract.
Our bathroom remodels can range from $8,500 to $40,000 depending on size and how extensive the remodel is.Two things really govern how much the bathroom remodel will cost they are how large is the bathroom and how much tile, electrical and plumbing work needs to be done to support your design. The smaller bathrooms are normally 5×8 feet and can cost as little as $8,500. The larger master bathrooms which can be 10×20 or more, would
be towards the upper end of the range or approaching $40,000 depending on materials and again how extensive plumbing and electrical work is needed. Special features such as multi-head shower systems with many spray heads expensive tile for surround all can affect price. As you can see a general rule of thumb for a bathroom remodel is a cost of $200-$250 a sq foot.
